This will teach you how to construct and use a beige box so that you may enjoy it for yourself. You will need: 1 telephone 2 alligator clips 1 phone cord 1 solidering iron /w solider 1 screw driver The construction of a beige box is quite easy. First, strip your phone cord about two inches on one end. You will see either four wires or two. All you need is the red and green wires. Now, strip about an inch off of the red and green wires. I use a lighter and melt the plastic on the wires because it is faster and easier. Now, solider an alligator clip to each wire. You may want to use some electric tape around where you stripped it to better the appearance. Hook the other end to your phone. That's it! Okay, good, you have your beige box, and now how to use it. Well, I'm going to tell you, there isn't many legal reasons to have one, it's not illegal to make one, and there are some legit uses such as testing your own line out. Okay, to use it, you plug your modified phone cord into your phone, go outside your house and look for a grey box that says "Telephone network interface" or something to that matter. You can use a normal screwdriver to open it. Once you do, you will see a lot of wires and some terminals. What you need to do is hook up the clips to the right terminal. Red on red, green on green. Red is usually on the right side, and also is labeled as ring. Green is on the left and also labeled tap. So, remember, three R's: Red, Ring, Right. You should get a dial tone. If you did not, make sure you have it hooked up correctly to the terminal. If it still doesn't work, look back over the instructions and try again. It will work if you keep trying. You have just made a beige box. This is much like a butt-set that linemen use to test lines. This will work on any phone that doesn't use VOIP. If you really get into it, you may want to purchase a DSL filter so you can beige box lines that has DSL. With this, you can make any phone call, it's the same as using a phone inside the house. There is some things I should tell you. The people you use this on will notice that $1,587 change for a call to Tijuana. They will not have to pay for the call, but they will keep a good eye on their phone activity. Also, this is ILLEGAL without permission from the line's owner. Heh, it actually came in handy one day when I got locked out of my house and I needed to call my parents. Good thing I took it to school all the time.
